Job Title: Highways Lighting Operative

Base Location: St Columb, Cornwall

Salary:  £24,607 plus Stand by allowance and call out payments ,(TIM) Bonus Scheme and a range of other benefits to support your family, finances and wellbeing. 

Working Pattern: Full Time, Monday – Friday 8am-4pm. Overtime there for those who want it

Could you be our next Highways Labourer to join the team and drive this success forwards?

What will I be doing in this role? 

In a  typical day, you could expect to be;

  • Installing and maintaining street lighting apparatus and furniture, this could be street lights, signposts or signs 
  • Taking part in diagnosing faults, and fixing faulty equipment if needed 
  • Changing, maintaining and testing of equipment to prevent any future issues 
  • Ensuring we deliver outstanding service to our clients and the general public  
  • Operating a mobile elevated working platform 
  • Working to strict safety guidelines and regulations 
  • We can also offer the option to take on additional training in electrical cable joining if required.

What do I need to be successful in the role?

Our Essential requirements for all applicants are:

  • We work in all weathers! So, you need to be the type of person who is happy working outdoors all year round.
  • A lot of this role will be working at height, so you need to be comfortable with working in a MEWP (also called a cherry picker) at heights that could be up to 12 Meters above ground
  • Previous Civils knowledge
  • We do need you to have a full UK Driving Licence
  • Adaptable and versatile with a can do attitude
  • You can work brilliantly in a Team as well as being able to act on your own initiative

Some of our ‘nice to haves’ are;

  • In-date CSCS/ECS card.
  • IPAF certification for Mobile Elevated Working Platform (MEWP).
  • Experience in Highways Electrical and street furniture.
  • Knowledge on extracting information from utility drawings.
  • HGV 2 Licence
  • Previous knowledge of working on highways.

We can however support the right candidate to achieve any level of industry training/qualifications they may not have in the ‘nice to have’ list.
